Module: Event Reporting

Most modules on this platform started as a plan. This one started as a problem, solved live, in front of a crowd. Event Reporting grew directly out of real-world use during GFNY Belitung 2026, where a working reporter, Gilang, used a simplified version of it live during the event — its design is grounded in his actual workflow, not a theoretical spec drawn up at a desk.
How It Started
Picture the scene: race day in Belitung, Gilang live on Instagram, narrating the field as it streams past. In one hand, the phone doing the broadcasting. In the other, a second phone, frantically switching between apps to figure out who exactly just rode by — a name, a country, a team — before the moment passed and the story moved on without him. Two phones, one reporter, and a gap between „who is that?“ and „here’s who that is“ that was costing him precious seconds of live airtime.
The fix that emerged wasn’t a feature list — it was almost embarrassingly simple once it was found: enter a start number, get the athlete’s profile back instantly, on the same phone as the stream. No app-switching, no scrolling, no delay. Just the answer, right when it was needed.
Core Function: Press/Media Chat
A start-number-in, athlete-profile-out lookup — deliberately scaled down to exactly what a reporter under time pressure needs. No extra steps, no navigating a full chat interface mid-broadcast — just a fast, focused query.
Broader Scope Beyond the Lookup
Beyond the live start-number query, the module is intended to give journalists and media access to:

Connection to Messages
Event Reporting is also the source of incoming event information — updates and results from control points — that feeds into the Messages module’s output generation (Short/Medium/Long Messages, including the end-of-event report). It is both the front door for journalists — press releases, documents, the live lookup tool — and the channel through which on-the-ground updates flow onward, where Sabin turns them into content shaped for different audiences: press, participants, and the family and followers watching from home.
Design Principle
True to how it was actually built: talk to the practitioner first, then build exactly what’s needed — not a speculative feature list. Gilang’s feedback shaped the module directly, down to language preference (English/Bahasa, not German), and the realization that a „reporter input“ concept he was initially confused by wasn’t needed for this event at all. The direct query alone solved his real problem — proof that the simplest fix is often the right one, if you actually watch someone hit the wall before you build the ladder.
